This Privacy Policy (“policy”) applies to websites operated by the sole proprietorship of Michael S. Kim d.b.a. Narrative Applications and Narrative Essay Review (“Narrative”), namely but not limited to www.narrativeapplications.com (“website”) and the services, primarily comprehensive evaluations of college and/or graduate school application essays, accessed through the website. By visiting or using the website, linked pages, features, content, or the services we offer through or in connection with the website, you acknowledge that you are aware of and consent to the practices and policies outlined herein. Additionally, you acknowledge that you are aware of and consent to the collection, use, and sharing of your personal data in the following ways.
Statement of General Policy
Narrative respects your privacy and is committed to the protection of your privacy. Our services require us to collect detailed personal information to operate. This policy covers our treatment of your detailed personal information as collected in the process of your access and/or use of Narrative’s website and services. In this policy, we will explain our collection and sharing practices and your options to limit our sharing your information.
This policy does not apply to the practices of companies that we do not own or control, or to individuals that we do not employ or manage. For example, we cannot and do not manage your personal information as it is collected by third parties that provide Narrative operational services (e.g., payment processing) or external websites you access from Narrative’s website through links. Narrative collects and stores your personal information when you provide it to us. For example, we collect your email and/or contact information when you opt-in to services on our website or purchase our services. Narrative does not directly collect your financial data as all details, data, and the processing of that data is managed by a third-party payment processor. As a result, Narrative does not maintain direct control over this personal information or have access to it and cannot be held responsible for the management of the financial data collected over the course of operations per our Statement of General Policy.
We may also collect other personal information you provide to us through your use of our services, such as address, phone number, date of birth, financial information, other academic and demographic variables relevant to the college admission process, including your admissions and financial aid offers, application essays, and reviews and feedback related to your use of our products and services.
Narrative does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 13 or knowingly allow such persons to employ our services. No one under 13 may provide any personal information to Narrative, use Narrative’s services independent of a consenting parent or guardian, or send any information about themselves to us including, but not limited to, their name, address, telephone number, or email address. In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. Whenever you interact with the website, we automatically receive and record information from your browser including, but not limited to, your IP address, cookies, and the page you requested. Information gathered through cookies may include the date and time of visits, your IP address, the pages viewed, time spent at our website, and the websites visited just before and after our website. This information may be appended to your profile information to provide you with better service and information and may be shared with partners as detailed in this policy.

Narrative may use aggregated and/or anonymized personal information about your use of our website to improve the website’s functionality and Narrative’s operations as a whole.
Narrative may use the application essays, reviews, and feedback you provide to us related to your use of the products and services for marketing purposes. When using application essays, reviews, and/or feedback for marketing purposes, Narrative will either make a reasonable attempt to use the minimum content required for effective marketing and to anonymize the content or Narrative will contact you for permissions.
Narrative employs third parties to perform operational functions. Some of these vendors may have access to your personal information, but only as necessary to provide services to Narrative. Narrative does not maintain direct control over this personal information or have access to it and cannot be held responsible for the management of the data collected over the course of operations by third parties per our Statement of General Policy.
Narrative will release your personal information if required by law, for example, if we receive a subpoena or otherwise believe in good faith that the law requires us to release your information.
If Narrative sells any part of its business, Narrative may transfer your information to its successor, regardless of your opt-out status.
Your Options as a User

Upon receipt of such a request, Narrative will discard any identifying personal information. However, Narrative may retain anonymized information for business purposes or as required by law.
Jurisdiction and Location of Operations
Narrative operates within the United States. If you are located outside of the United States, any information you provide to us will be transferred to the United States. You consent to this transfer by visiting our website and/or using our services.

Narrative maintains reasonable security measures to protect your personal information when it is under the direct control and/or management of Narrative. However, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information as no method of internet-based information transfer is completely secure. Third parties that provide operational services to Narrative and that access your personal information in the process of those operational services are required to protect your personal information per their respective privacy policies.

Do Not Track (DNT) Signals
Web browsers may offer an option to send DNT signals to websites you visit. Narrative may use third party advertisers, retargeting services, and web analytics providers to serve advertisements, aggregate usage statistics, and to enable us to provide targeted advertisements outside of our website. Narrative cannot and does not have the ability to respond to DNT signals on outgoing traffic. The third parties used by Narrative may not respond to DNT signals. Narrative does not actively look for nor respond to DNT signals on incoming traffic.

Outside the instances outlined in this policy, Narrative does not generally allow third parties to collect your personal information. However, third parties may collect information through our website in order to assist our operations and services.
